I will just talk about the highlights of this week.
We had Zone Meeting this week. That was awesome as usual. We had some really great training. One of the District Leaders, Elder Wagner, gave training about The Book of Mormon and he related it to Excalibur. I thought that was pretty cool. I do love the whole Merlin/King Arthur legend. That training definitely stuck in my head! We also received the new goals for the mission/stake and ward. and then we talked about how, as missionaries, we can help these goals to be achieved. My Zone Leaders, well the one who came out at the same time, was very kind and reminded me often that I only had 4 weeks to help work on these goals. Ha.Ha.Ha.
As Zone Meeting came to a close, it was Sister Gaffney's turn to talk. I had to give my departing testimony! That was a really weird thing to do. And it didn't really hit me until I was wrapping up, that I actually will be going home soon. So I lasted until literally my last sentence before I shed any tears! But I am ok, I get to see the whole Zone again on the 20th January and I have exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders (specifically Sister Sorensen :D) on the 26th/27th. Therefore there were no goodbyes to be said! :)
District Meeting was on Thursday. That was also really good. We talked about the Gifts of the Spirit that we as missionaries need to develop in order to teach the Gospel. We ended up, as a District (but mainly Elder Jones) drawing an interesting diagram/picture on the chalkboard to demonstrate how these gifts can help us. I will send a photo of it with this email, and if anyone can understand how it is even closely related, then bravo to you. It looks completely strange.
Then we had lunch as a District before we had to leave and head to the Doctors. The diagnosis was that Sister Gaffney has Labyrinthitus. So the doctor told me that I had to get plenty of rest... Not what I wanted to hear. But Heavenly Father knows what He is doing so I have to trust that knowledge.
We had a really good visit with a recent convert this week. Oh my days, her house is so cute. She has been decorating and she just has the cutest things in her house. It felt so cosy and homey. We studied for the Sunday School lesson and then we had dinner with her. Wow, studying for the Sunday School lesson was really awesome. I have hardly spent any time in Gospel Doctrine since I have been on my mission, but it got me excited to go back to it when I get home. Especially because this year we are studying the Book of Mormon. That is another reason to love Sunday School :)
There has been a lot of rain this week! Monday we got really really really wet. That was no fun. It made me really sad and cold and I already felt terrible. Bleurgh!
Oh, we were talking last night about how we never know what to email to President, and Sister Beazer said, "Just email him and say 'Dear President, this week I have just felt bleurgh, love Sister Gaffney'." I thought that was actually a pretty good idea, but I said more than that haha. It was very acurate because that's all I say to her when she asks how I am feeling.
Well I don't really know what else to say. Except please pray for me to get into BYU! I'm doing the application right now and I'm really nervous about it!
I am so grateful to each of you for all your prayers and support. I know that each prayer is heard and that each prayer is answered.
I love you all!!
Love, Sister Gaffney
