"So I am going to be really lame this week and just send you all photos! Sorry! I have run out of time to send you a long email! But hey, a photo is worth a thousand words! Haha :)"
But we decided to fill in a few details from info that she has sent to us this week.
Last week was transfer week, and as most of you know, Sister Gaffney was in Newcastle Emlyn for 7.5 months! Long time! We knew she would be transferring out and we were excited to find out where she would end up.
The message we got was that she would be in Woodsetton with Sister Sorensen (who we knew). It actually turns out that the Zone Leader didn't have all the information! The Sister Sorensen who is one of Sister Gaffney's companions is not her MTC companion, but another one. She infact went into the MTC at the same time as Sister Rasmussen who she has just left. Her other companion is Sister Duzon, who came out 6 weeks after Sister Gaffney and yes they are in a tri-panionship. And, one of the first things she said to me was "I'M IN ENGLAND!!" Her new area is Woodsetton, between Wolverhampton and Birmingham.
She is excited to be with both these Sisters and already has grown to love them very much. She say this is a tough area to crack, but her Mission President and the Lord obviously have lots of faith in her to do the work in this area. Her response to our above statement was "
I hope that he has faith in me! I am really trusting in the Lord a lot more! I know I can't do it without him. I tried. It didn't work haha."
Another couple of snippets from her email to daddy Simon: "I am doing really good here. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be actually. It's been much easier because I have 2 great companions that I get a long with really well. The hardest part was being on the bus and as we pulled away, Sister Rasmussen was crying. That was really tough! But I know that she will be fine. And I am really lucky. So Elder Lowe was my Zone leader for the entire time that I was in Wales, and he is still my Zone Leader in the Birmingham zone!! How cool is that! I am super excited for that. And my other Zone Leader was serving in Merthyr zone for my first 3 transfers there! So I know him too. This is going to be such a good transfer!"
"I am so excited for Conference! We are going to have to go into Birmingham to watch it I think. I can't wait to hear the Prophet talk! He's so awesome!"
"Missionary work is the best thing in the world! I absolutely love it and I am so glad that I made the decision to serve! It really has taught me so much and my testimony has increased so much. Missions are the best thing for anyone!"
So that about wraps it up for news from Sister Gaffney this week, hopefully we will hear a little more next week.
I have updated her address on the blog, so if anyone wants to write (I know she would love to receive some mail other than emails), the address is there.
