...to all the will of the Lord." - Mosiah 24:15
This scripture is just so good. I love it. I read it in my studies this week and wanted to share it with you all. If any of you have read a scripture this week that you really love, please share it with me. :) I always love hearing other people's experiences with the scriptures. Or maybe if a talk has stood out to you or and ensign article etc.
Well this week has been rather busy! But it's been a lot of fun so all in all its been grand:)
So last Monday I did what I said we would do... We chilled at the office, used the wifi to email, and then we went in to town to buy some boots. After what felt like an eternity of searching, I found some wonderfully cute and warm boots. I shall refer to them as my
Captain Hook boots, because when I wear them, especially with my black flowy skirt, I feel like a pirate... Arrr! Then we went and taught a lesson outside McDonald's before heading down to the chapel to meet the Sister Training Leaders so that we could go on exchanges! I was lucky enough to go to Nottingham with Sister Alexandroaia. Whoop whoop!
Tuesday was a good day, I spent all of the day in Nottingham. We went and visited an inactive sister in the ward and then we had a lunch appointment with Brother and Sister Gray. The Grays were actually working in the office when I came in to the mission field. Brother Gray said he remembered me because I had a big smile on my face. That's good eh? After lunch we went and did service for a member of the ward. She is so lovely. It was nice to go and help her out and to just chat. Then that evening we taught a couple of lessons and then went to their ward correlation meeting.
Wednesday morning it was time to exchange back! I was wonderful to come back to my area and to come back to my wonderful companion. And we had interviews and district meeting to start off our day. District Meeting was really good. We started off with training from Tom Leppard (President's son) and it was really good. I learnt a lot from it and we were able to apply it to our finding this week. Then we were called out for our interviews with President. It was really great. He gives us time at the end to ask questions and to talk about whatever we
want, and one of my questions is something that has been playing on my mind for a little while. I asked how I can make the last part of my mission count. He said set a goal of 3 things you want to accomplish before you go home and focus on them. It was great advice and I have been able to prayerfully set goals that I can focus on for the next 2 and a half transfers. I can't believe where the time is going.
Thursday! Happy Birthday Cherena! During interviews, President had my planner and he saw that I had written in that it was Cherena's birthday. I hope you had a great day! I was thinking about you all day. We had a really great great lesson with one of our investigators. I absolutely love teaching this lady. She is just so wonderful. And the spirit always fills the room when we are teaching her. I've never had someone who is just so keen to learn more and to read form the Book of Mormon. She has been reading a chapter a night, and some nights she reads more and she just doesn't want to put it down. She's really amazing! We are so blessed to teach her!
Friday didn't really go as planned. We were in town waiting for someone to show up for a lesson but he didn't show. There was a group nearby, from the local college, of students with learning difficulties and they looked really worried and upset, so we went over to see if we could help. One of their students had gone missing and they asked if we could help look for him. So we looked all over town to try and help them. The had the police and other staff down from the college to help them too. Then we headed off to go and help out at the office.
Saturday also didn't really go as we had planned, but it was a good day. We were able to teach one of our investigators and we were also able to teach a new lady as well. And then when we were out knocking doors, we met a wonderful family with 5 kids who we are going back to see tonight! They were such an answer to prayers! It was awesome! We had prayed to ask that we would be able to find a family that we could teach and who would let us come by on Monday night to do a Family a home evening with. And so tonight we are going to see them and going to have family home evening with them.
Sunday, I died. I woke up feeling terrible. I probably looked terrible too. And then throughout the day I was definitely getting worse. But Church was really good this week! Our investigator came! Yay! It was such a blessing. He had been working the nightshift before and he was really tired, but he wanted said he didn't want to let us down, so he came for Sacrament meeting. And it was the primary presentation, the best Sacrament Meeting of the year I think. The rest of church was really good too. We had a great lesson in Relief Society on the talk 'The Comforter' by President Henry B. Eyring. It's one of my favourite talks, I love it.
We had a couple of lessons after our lunch appointment with the Mace's. One of them was with a part member family, a little old couple. They are so sweet. When we came in, they could see I wasn't doing too good and they made us hot chocolates and then after the lesson, they drove us home and sentenced me to bed. I didn't need telling twice. I was in bed by 7:15pm. It was marvellous. And I woke up today feeling much better. I'm still bleurgh, but I'm much better than yesterday.
This week I have really come to learn that it is ok to struggle. It is ok to have off days, and it is ok to not be happy all the time. I mean I already knew that, but I have had that lesson retaught to me this week. I absolutely love my mission. All of it. The highs and the lows. Maybe in the moment, I don't really love the lows, but when I look back on them I realise how much I learnt or how important those moments really were. I just have 100 days to change the world! And you better believe I'm gonna do everything I can to make that happen. And with Heavenly Father on my side, how can I fail. He is guiding my feet in this
marvellous work. He knows what is best for me, for the people in my area and he knows what is best for you! Don't ever think that you are alone. You are never alone.
Thank you all for continuing to support me and showing me your love!
I love you all!
Love Sister Gaffney! (Captain Gaffney;) )
We found the swans and the geese!
Aren't we so pretty...
Bus fun!
