Just a chillin' on the bus!
"Don't you give up. You keep going." - Elder Holland.

Hola people!

Well today we are not chilling with the Elders for Pday. We are just chilling at the office, using the WiFi! And then I'm going to go and buy some shoes. Well boots, because boy is it getting cold! My poor little footsies is getting chilly!

Last Monday was really good though. We had a lot of fun with the Elders and we cooked, and laughed and made the most epic music video that missionaries probably could. Well I just looked really stupid actually, but it was all a great laugh. I've done some odd things that
I probably would never have done if I wasn't a missionary! We missionaries are a weird species. And you can't help but become weird when you become one. It's not be possible!

Tuesday was cool, we had our first visit to the family history centre.  And it was really awesome. I was really enjoying looking at the genealogy that has already been done, and I am so pumped to do some for myself. I loved looking at where our family came from. There was some Ireland, Scotland, England and even some Cornwall in there. It was so interesting! I wonder what we'll be able to find out. :) I haven't even really started it and I'm already excited. The spirit of Elijah is real!

In the evening we had so much fun! We went and did the Single Adults activity this week. We did a short little lesson, and then we did an activity. The game we played is called psychiatrist. Basically you have someone go out of the room and you all decide on something that is wrong with you. Then the doctor comes back in and they ask you random questions to try and guess what is wrong with you. (Eg. You move your arm whenever you answer a question). This was the funniest thing! I don't think that I have laughed that much in a very long time. So dang funny!!

I want you all to know that on Thursday we found out that I am having a Baby Dinosaur... It's a boy! We're going to name him Russell Bellen Baffney.  Oh, right, so basically I had an ultrasound cos I've been having tummy pains, but I'm ok! There's nothing to worry about, but me and Sister Butler are hilarious and this is what we came up with. Don't judge me!! hahahahaha.

For the last couple of weeks we have had a list of people to stop by who haven't been out to church in a looooong time, and we stopped by most of them and got a lot of no's and go away's. But on Saturday we stopped by one lady and she was so nice and she is happy for us to come back and see her. She's never been to Wylde Green ward, but guess what, she was a member in Woodsetton! Of all the places! Cool right?! So I'm looking forward to going back and teaching her.

We've been trying some fun ways of doing missionary work, and this week we came up with some fun questions to ask people when we are GQing. These are 2 of our weird, but successful questions.  "What is the colour of your favourite dog?"  "If you could be any fish, which fish would you be?"  Yes, we actually did get a potential with each of these questions. I don't know how, but it worked. And it was fun and different and it made us and them, smile!

I love being a missionary! Time is going way too fast! I can't believe how long I have been out here for. I guess they say 'time flies when you're having fun'. And I am definitely having fun! And I am absolutely doing the toughest thing ever... And that is not that I am learning a new language, the language of the EBM missionaries. We really do have our own language, it is called 'obb'. Pronounced like aab. I'm getting pretty fluent at it. :-)

I love the Gospel! The Church is true!

Pretty church in Sutton
Hello you fine group of people :)

Pdays where you don't do anything are the best. We just chilled at the office, used the WiFi to email, got our groceries, came back to the office, and ate pizza. It was wonderful. This week the elders are coming down to Wylde Green for the day so we are going to chill with them. Since I've been here in Wylde Green, we've spent a lot of Pdays with the Walsall elders. It's cos they're awesome! And our area on Pday is otherwise rather boring.

We've had an interesting week this week. We saw some really cool miracles here in Wylde green, that have led to us having some awesome new investigators.  One lady was a referral from a member and she is soooo prepared! I can definitely see how Heavenly Father has been working with her throughout her life to prepare her to receive the gospel at this time.  This is definitely her time to hear the gospel and I am sure she will accept it.

Something that me and Sister Butler are really looking forward to doing, is family history. There has been a huge push for that within the mission at the moment and we realised that we really don't know anything about it. So we are going to go down this week to learn more about it and to do some more of our own family history.

I really love my mission. Man it is soooo hard it I wouldn't change it. I think my favourite quote of my mission is "I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it." And that is definitely true. It's soooo worth it.

I know the church is true. I know it with every fibre of my being. I love this gospel, and I love sharing it with others.

Have an awesome week :)
Love you all!

Love Sister Gaffney :)

The Mission home! Perks of being in Wylde Green!
Hey!

I'm so sorry that I've been rubbish at emailing recently. I don't really have any excuse except that I suck haha. But I will be better, I promise.

Not so long left now, just less than 3 months until Christmas and then 1 more after that until I'm home! I can't believe that the time has gone so fast. This last 6 weeks just totally flew by.

This week has been tiring but it has been fun! It's been emotional too! I had to say goodbye to my dear companion Sister Rasmusson, I got to see Sister Woolsey and Sister Rasmussen and Sister Vousden and Elder Bos and a load of other missionaries, I got a new companion, we did some blogging and we got to watch conference!

So on Tuesday we took Sister Rasmusson down the office for her trunky night, and I was then with Sister Alexandroia for the next 24 hours or so. We went and helped out Sister Leppard with trunky night. And we are so lucky that we get to also eat Sister Leppards cooking when we help out! It's soooo good!

Then we went and helped out with Young Womens. They had an MTC experience. It was so cool to go there and really talk to the girls about missions and to see the enthusiasm they have for missionary work.

Then at 3:30am, President came to collect Sister Rasmusson and Sister Miller and take them to the airport. I think I was awake for 5 minutes when I went outside, in my pjs, to say goodbye. So my mission president got to see me in my frozen pjs. Haha. Then we went back to bed.

Transfer day is such a long day for us sisters here in Wylde green. We arrived at the mission home at 8:30 and we didn't leave until about 17:30. But it was so cool because I got to see a load of my friends in the mission, and I was there as Sister Vousden got off the coach and entered the EBM! That was a little bit weird seeing her here, but now she is off in the wonderful land of Newcastle Emlyn, where this old missionary here was born!

So the news that I'm sure you all want to know is about my new companion... Right?! I am now serving with Sister Butler! She is just so cool! I love her.

She's from South Carolina, she plays guitar, she's fun, she's super tall and she looks like Taylor Swift. Yes everyone, my new companion is Taylor Swift! Haha

Well I think the highlight of my week was definitely General Conference! What is better than sitting and listening to the Prophet and Apostles of the church teaching us the things that Heavenly Father wants us to know right now?! There's nothing cooler! At least that's my thoughts. I absolutely loved Conference. All the sessions were amazing!

I really loved the General Women's meeting. I felt Heavenly Fathers love so so much. I think one quote that stood out to me was from Sister Wixom, who quoted Elaine C. Cannon: "There are two important days in a woman's life: The day she is born, and the day she finds out why."

I also loved the story that President Uchtdorf told about Great-Aunt Rose and the stalker cat. We just died laughing about that cat. Mommy can we get a stalker cat?! Hahaha this is going to be a recurring theme for me and Sister Butler I think.

Man I just want to tell you all everything that I loved about conference, but then we would be here all day and I don't have all day because I'm a missionary and there are souls to be saved!

But really conference was awesome. And President Monson's testimony was so powerful. Both Sister Butler and myself agree that President Monson was really testifying with all the strength he has and just pleading with us to stay strong in our faith. I just felt the spirit so strong as he was talking. He really is a Prophet of God!

We have a lot of plans for this area and for this transfer. I am really excited for this transfer and for the next 4 months. I am going to make this the best 4 months ever!

Well I hope that you have a wonderful week and if you didn't get the chance to see conference, watch it, read the talks, study it, and ask Heavenly Father what you need to learn from it. He will answer you. I know that He will. He has answered my prayers so much over this weekend and He knows what I need to hear!

The church is true! Missionary work is the best thing I could be doing right now!

Love you!!
